MealVue (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use the MealVue iOS app and website.

Information We Collect

MealVue collects only the data necessary to provide meal logging and nutrition analysis:

• Meal photos and descriptions — Images and text you submit to log a meal.
• Nutrition estimates — AI-generated calorie and nutrient data derived from your meal entries.
• Health data — With your permission, we read and write nutrition-related data to Apple HealthKit to show trends and sync intake records.
• Email address — Only if you voluntarily sign up for beta testing or product updates via our website.

How We Use Your Information

We use your data solely to operate and improve the app:

• Analyze meals and display nutrition breakdowns
• Track daily totals and historical trends
• Sync with Apple Health (only when you explicitly enable it)
• Send beta updates or launch announcements (only to users who opt in)

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Meal photos and descriptions are sent to our backend for AI analysis. We do not share your data with any other third parties for advertising or tracking purposes.

Third-Party AI Services

When you log a meal, the app optionally sends your food photos and/or descriptions to third-party AI services for meal identification:

• Cloudflare Workers AI — runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure.
• Google Gemini AI — operated by Google.

These requests contain only the food photo or description. No personal data, name, or health information is included. Neither service retains your data after processing.

Data Storage

Your meal data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData and may be synced to your personal iCloud account via CloudKit if you have iCloud enabled. We do not operate a central database of your meals.

Your Rights

You can delete individual meal entries or all app data at any time through the app. You may also revoke HealthKit access in your iOS Settings. If you signed up for emails and wish to unsubscribe, contact us at the email below.

Children

MealVue is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email.
